Leonville Elementary recognizes that parental involvement must be a priority for children to learn and achieve academic success. LES realizes that a childâs education begins at birth. Parents and family members are a childâs primary teachers. They play a vital role in the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of their children. A childâs development and success is dependent on the direct support a child receives at home. Parents and families are a childâs first teacher therefore, parents are vital and necessary partners with LES throughout their childrenâs elementary and middle school careers. A parent is any caregiver who assumes responsibility for nurturing and caring for children, and may include parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, foster parents, stepparents, and others. Parental Involvement shall include programs, services, and/or activities at school, as well as contributions of parents outside the normal school setting.
It will be the policy of LES, in collaboration with parents, teachers, students, administrators, and community partners to establish programs that are intended to enhance the involvement of parents which reflect the needs of students, parents, and families served by LES, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
January marks the annual observance of School Board Recognition Month â a good time to salute the work of school board members, especially in these unprecedented times. Your locally elected board members speak out for public schools by ensuring our students have the opportunity to benefit from a safe high-quality education. Their decisions and actions affect the present and future lives of our communityâs children. Join us in celebrating School Board Recognition Month in St. Landry Parish.
