
Camp Fast Forward, will be held at SLCC - Lafayette, the week of June 19-23. Camp Fast Forward is a one-week, half-day, health career exploration program for middle school students (current 6-8 graders). The camp is completely FREE! School Lunch Hero Day is an annual celebration in the United States that honors the hardworking school nutrition professionals who serve healthy meals to students every day. It is typically celebrated on the first Friday in May, which falls on May 5th, 2023.
The day was created by the School Nutrition Association (SNA) to recognize the important role that school nutrition professionals play in promoting child nutrition, wellness, and academic achievement. It is a way to show appreciation for the individuals who work behind the scenes to ensure that students receive nutritious meals that fuel their bodies and minds.

Autism Awareness Month is observed in April. During this month, we reflect on the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. This month serves as a reminder of the need for increased understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism and their families.


Sedonia Davis, the 2020 valedictorian from Port Barre High School, who is currently majoring in neuroscience at Tulane University, visited Mrs. Beauchampâs 3rd graders at Park Vista Elementary. She explained the importance of getting an education and the benefits of making good grades. Students were excited to hear about her studies with mice and areas of the brain. Sedonia also shared about her travels to Spain and India and taught the students about citizenship.
Mrs. Beauchampâs class is very excited to see what the future holds for Sedonia! Keep up the great work!

~Open to all current students enrolled in St. Landry Parish public schools in 9th through 12th grade (MEDIA ARTS is open to students in grades 7-12)
~ Courses are designed to prepare students for careers involving specialized skill sets.
~Students can earn up to $2,000.00 depending on the program.
~Program begins May 30th and ends August 1st.

David Reed, CTE teacher at Northwest HS, was awarded a $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover grant by NextEra Energy today at an award presentation and luncheon. We are so thankful to NextEra Energy for providing the students with resources to extend their learning opportunities.
