St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 11, 2024, due to the extensive damage caused by the recent storms, impacting many of our families.
All 12-month employees are asked to report to their respective school/site when they are able to do so safely. We understand this is a difficult time for our community, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility. The closure will allow time for families to address any storm impacts while allowing employees to ensure schools are prepared to reopen once conditions improve. Additional updates will be provided through our normal communication channels as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenging circumstances together.

This closure includes all after-school activities and sports practices. We anticipate resuming regular school hours on Thursday, April 11th. This decision was made after close consultation with the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness to ensure the safety of our students and staff, which remains our top priority. The festival is March 23, 2024, from 10 AM to 3 PM in the Opelousas courthouse square. The SLP Early Learning Network is now accepting applications for children aged birth to 5. Interested parties can apply at the site for which your child is zoned to attend or online at https://earlylearningnetworkslp.org.
St. Landry Parish will showcase our best Jr. High basketball talent at our All-Star game on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Opelousas Jr. High.
Event Times:
5:00 PM: 3-point contest
6:00 PM: Girls All-Star Game
7:00 PM: Boys All-Star Game
Admission: $5 for all ages.

Due to possible unsafe weather conditions from the forecasted arctic blast, all St. Landry Parish School District schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, and Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
With icy roads and freezing temperatures expected throughout the days ahead, we have made the decision to cancel classes, sporting activities, and practices to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff.

If you suspect your child has talented music, theater, and/or visual art characteristics, contact your school for a referral to the School Building Level Committee. Talented referrals and evaluations are only conducted once a year in the Spring.
