Washington Elementary Zooiana Field Trip is tomorrow, all students should ride their
regular school bus to school or come by their regular means of transportation.
Car riders must arrive before 8:00 a.m., if not, they will miss the field trip bus departure. Students must wear their school uniform shirts or a school spirit shirt with their uniform pants and regular school shoes. Also, students can not bring cell phones, electronic devices, or toys for the field trip. The students will return home at their regular time. Car rides can also be picked up at their regular dismissal time.

Missing school and late arrivals are crucial factors that can affect their promotion to the next grade level. Please ensure that your child/children attend school daily and arrive by 7:55 am each day. 2:30 is the final pick-up time for car riders!

April 22-26, 2024 is Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW), a dedicated week to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours.
Research shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the backbone of program quality and are key to desired positive youth outcomes.
Why is it important to recognize Afterschool Professionals?
An estimated 7.8 million children participate in afterschool programs each year; for every child in an afterschool program, two more are waiting to get in. Every young person deserves quality afterschool experiences that positively impact their development. It takes skilled professionals to create these experiences. Because of the important role afterschool professionals play in kidsâ lives, they deserve recognition and support!

The pre-kindergarten through Second Grade Field Trip to the Zoo on tomorrow has been canceled. The field trip will be rescheduled soon! School is closed on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Please continue to be safe!
St. Landry Parish Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, April 11, 2024, due to the extensive damage caused by the recent storms, impacting many of our families.
All 12-month employees are asked to report to their respective school/site when they are able to do so safely. We understand this is a difficult time for our community, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility. The closure will allow time for families to address any storm impacts while allowing employees to ensure schools are prepared to reopen once conditions improve. Additional updates will be provided through our normal communication channels as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenging circumstances together.

This decision was made after close consultation with the National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Preparedness to ensure the safety of our students and staff, which remains our top priority.
