Family & Consumer Science Department
Welcome to our department! If you are interested in anything culinary, healthy eating, baking & pastry, children, fine cuisine, food science and restaurant work, then these are the classes to schedule with Mrs. Jennifer Hebert.
We teach Nutrition & Foods, Advanced Nutrition, Food Science, and Child Development. Nutrition and Foods is our beginner class for the novice cook. Advanced Nutrition can be scheduled the next year for those wishing to explore baking and pastry options while cooking almost all foods from scratch. Food Science is the class for those wishing to explore healthy eating, calories and protein, science experiments with food, and answers to the “why” questions about foods. Child Development is for those students who may want to become teachers, work with young children in various roles and explore various resources for working with children. These are all “hands-on” courses so a fee is required for each course.
Labs completed in the various classes:
Child Development-homemade play-doh, arts and crafts for all holidays, bulletin board partner assignment, resource binder, parenting novel, “baby think it over” weekend
