Lawtell Elementary School is excited to announce that we will be hosting our Registration event on July 26, 2024 and July 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. On July 26, 2024, we will be serving students with last names beginning with A-H, and on July 29, 2024, we will be serving students with last names beginning with I-Z. It is important to remember to bring all the required documents for registration to ensure a smooth process. The 4th-grade students in Ms. Harper's English Language Arts (ELA) class are fully engaged in exploring the themes and characters in the book "The Whipping Boy". They are actively participating in discussions and activities related to the story, demonstrating their enthusiasm for learning and literature. #CampAccelerate #WeekTwo

When we embrace the concept of "yet," we recognize that despite not reaching a goal at a particular moment, there remains potential for success in the future. In Mrs. Furtch's Growth Mindset Class, Along with student interns, Ms. Remi Pierre and Ms. Alexa Lopez, students are actively acquiring strategies and skills to enhance their problem-solving abilities, empowering them to tackle challenges with resilience and creativity. #CampAccelerate #WeekTwo

In Mrs. J's class, students are learning the concept of "mind over matter" by engaging in various activities aimed at sharpening their math skills. They are currently working on ZEARN assignments, which are designed to enhance their mathematical understanding and proficiency. Additionally, they are actively participating in group activities, fostering collaboration and teamwork while further developing their knowledge and skills in mathematics.

All St. Landry Parish School Board Administrative offices and schools will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of Juneteenth. We will not have summer school or Camp Accelerate on this day.

April 22-26, 2024 is Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week (APAW), a dedicated week to recognize, appreciate and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours. Research shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the backbone of program quality and are key to desired positive youth outcomes. Why is it important to recognize Afterschool Professionals? An estimated 7.8 million children participate in afterschool programs each year; for every child in an afterschool program, two more are waiting to get in. Every young person deserves quality afterschool experiences that positively impact their development. It takes skilled professionals to create these experiences. Because of the important role afterschool professionals play in kids’ lives, they deserve recognition and support!
