PBES will celebrate our 100th day of school on Monday, Feb. 7th.
Students in PreK and Kindergarten are invited to dress as 100 year olds.
Students in grades 1-4 are invited to wear a 100th day shirt, or glue/attach 100 items to a shirt with your uniform pants.
If your child does not want participate in 100th day, please wear your school uniform.
Leonardo L, Drake S, and Colt M in Mrs. H. Fontenotâs 3rd grade math classes have each been awarded a certificate of achievement. All of them have demonstrated fluency in multiplication by answering all multiplication facts in under 6 seconds.

Learning Beyond the Bell afterschool tutoring for Port Barre Elementary will be cancelled tomorrow afternoon because of the possibility of inclement weather.

Ms. Kendi's students played a game during outdoor playtime. Students listened as their teacher sang a tune with a certain letter sound. They had to guess which letter made that sound and write it.
If you haven't signed up for weekly onsite COVID testing, it is not too late. Testing is conducted every Wednesday at PBES by a team of healthcare professionals using a non-evasive nose swab. Results are sent via text/email within 12-24 hours.
In order for your child to participate in testing, youâll need to register them for the program. If you have previously registered, you do not need to register again.

A parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old. Youâll give a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization to share their results with the school and district. Testing is not required, but highly encouraged to keep our school community safe.
The P.E. Teachers will pop Popcorn Wednesday (tomorrow). $1 per bag

Free Covid Testing and Vaccination Events
School resumes tomorrow. Report cards will also be sent home tomorrow.
Please return all chromebooks and hotspots that were sent home during our brief time of remote learning.

All students are to wear uniforms this week. Student IDâs are part of the uniform. Please ensure your child has their ID. Temporary IDâs cost $1 per day.
Friday will be $1 jean/sweatpants day.
If your child is displaying two or more symptoms, please do not send them to school. See a healthcare professional for an evaluation.
Masks are to be worn at all times while on campus and on the bus until further notice.
Just to clarify: Students at PBE only will not report to campus today or tomorrow. Staff that is not quarantined/isolated will report to school and begin getting assignments and chromebooks ready. You will receive a message from the teacher when they are ready for pick up.
Students at Port Barre Elementary will pivot to remote learning Thursday, January 13, 2022. A number of students and staff members are quarantined or isolating due to COVID-19. In-person learning will resume Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Staff members who are not in isolation/quarantine will report to school. You will receive further instructions from your teachers this morning.
Please note that while we have an obligation to ensure all community members' health, safety, and welfare, we also must protect the privacy of individuals affected by this virus.

TALENT EDUCATION
If you suspect your child of having Talented characteristics in MUSIC, THEATRE AND/OR VISUAL ART contact your childâs school for a referral to the School Building Level Committee. Talented referrals and evaluations are only conducted once a year in the Spring.
Tomorrow will be another chilly day!! Students may wear jeans or sweat pants with uniform tops or spirit shirts. There is no charge for jeans/sweatpants tomorrow.

PBES: Our school is informing all parents that some individuals were diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday afternoon and these individuals were on school premises and did have direct exposure with select students who have been identified and parental contact has been made. We have not identified anyone else as `close contacts` with these individuals. Close contacts would be someone within 3 ft for at least 15 minutes or more with the infected person. We are taking all of the proper protocols and sanitizing throughout the day. Parents should continue to monitor their child`s health and the health of their families for COVID 19 symptoms. Children with COVID 19 generally have mild, cold like symptoms. If your child is exhibiting two or more symptoms, please get them evaluated by a health care professional prior to sending them to school. Please remind your child that masks are to be worn on school campus and on the bus. We appreciate your help!
PBES Learning Beyond the Bell after school program return date has been pushed back to TUESDAY, JANUARY 18th. Please make sure that your child knows that they will not be staying after school this week (January 4-7) or next week (January 10-14).
PBES: With temperatures starting to warm up, students should be in regular uniforms tomorrow with school appropriate jackets. This Friday will be the next free jeans/sweatpants day.
