Reminders:
- There will be Learning Beyond the Bell this week.
- Students will be allowed to wear a red or pink shirt on Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 with regular uniform bottoms.
- The third nine weeks progress reports will go home with students on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
- Palmetto Elementary will be having a Raising Cane's Night on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 3 pm to 8 pm. Go to Raising Canes in Opelousas, mention Palmetto Elementary at the register with your takeout order, and 15% of the sales will be donated to our school. Enjoy some Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and help support our school.

We're super excited to announce our 1st Annual Student Arts Expo will happen on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10 AM to 3 PM on the Opelousas Courthouse Square. We are so very thankful of the Acadiana Center for the Arts for making this happen. There will be school bands, student artists, our robotics teams, and so much more. This event is free and open to everyone! Please come out and support our students and bring friends!
MACA will have its annual Black History Program, " A Celebration of Culture," on February 16, 2023 at 6:00 PM. Admission is $5 (cash only). Tickets can only be purchased at the door. There will be no online ticket sales. We hope you will come out and watch.
There will be no Beyond the Bell on today, Thursday, February 9, 2023 due to a mandatory testing meeting for staff. A note went home with students last week. Learning Beyond the Bell will resume on Monday, February 13, 2023.
Virtual Family Science Experiment
This is a BONUS point opportunity in Science.
See the below link for information on the science project for your child's grade level. After, you conduct the experiment at home as a family, either send a picture through the REMIND app, on the Facebook page, or in the google classroom. This is due on or before February 24, 2023. HAVE FUN!!

We have extra glazed donuts available @ $10.50 a dozen right now. Please stop by the office. All orders will be available for pick up at 1:00.
Krispy Kreme donuts will be available for pick up beginning a 1:00 tomorrow.
School Uniforms Reminders:
Polo shirts in the colors of navy, white, royal.
Pants, shorts, skirts, and jumpers in the colors of navy or khaki.
Coats, sweatshirts, and jackets must be SOLID in color of white, gray, navy, black or royal with no writings or markings (students in grades 3-5 are not allowed to wear any coat, sweatshirt, or jacket with a hood)
If you have a jacket that needs a hood removed, please call the office and Mrs. Laura Jackson can help you out with that.
Socks must be worn at all times in solid colors of navy, white, black, brown, or royal
Shoes must be closed shoe (front/back). No boots are allowed, except Rubber boots may be worn of days of inclement weather.
Belts must be worn on all pants that have belt loops in the colors of black, brown, khaki, white, navy, or royal.
In the incidents of weather that is at freezing or below, special instructions with regards to dress will be sent out. Help us make our school a better place by having your children follow our dress code.

A MESSAGE FROM SLPSB: All schools and administrative offices will dismiss early tomorrow, January 24th due to forecasted severe weather in our area. High schools will dismiss at 11:30 and Elementary schools at 12:30. All sports and after school activities will be canceled.
