In celebration of Autism Awareness Month, Ledricka Thierry and family are inviting St. Landry Parish students to participate in an Autism Art contest/ show that will be presented on April 2, 2024 at the St Landry Parish Autism Breakfast and also virtually for the month of April 2024. The Thierry family is extending an invitation for art submissions for the Autism Art competition/show from now through March 25, 2024.
2024 Virtual Art Show Theme: What is in a Dream? This theme can be widely interpreted, and it is an excellent way to encourage students to think about any kind of objects or subject matter that expresses their own identity and dreams. This theme will capture the acceptance of autism through the creative expression by, and in support of, individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
Students with ASD and those who want to support Autism Acceptance Month are encouraged to submit artwork of any medium to be displayed at the Autism breakfast and online as part of an Autism Virtual Art Expo. Group submissions are also encouraged.
All types of art can be submitted including any medium; for example, photography, drawings, paintings, sculptures, sketches, computer animations, are all acceptable. Art work should be submitted to Dr. Therese Ellender, Supervisor of STEAM, at the St. Landry Parish School Board Office by no later than March 25, 2024.
