📢 Attention MACA Families! 📢 On Tuesday, March 11, all 11th grade students will report to campus for ACT testing. Submitted by our JAG Association, we honor Clementine Hunter, a self-taught folk artist who captured the culture and history of Southern life through her vibrant paintings. Born on a plantation in Louisiana, Hunter’s artwork depicted everyday experiences, preserving the stories of Black life in the early 20th century. Despite facing barriers, she became one of the most celebrated African American artists, proving that passion and creativity can break through any obstacle. Submitted by our JAG association, we honor Jane Bolin, a trailblazing attorney and the first Black woman to become a judge in the United States. Appointed in 1939, she served for four decades, using her position to fight against racial discrimination and advocate for children’s rights.
